INDEPENDENCE SPEECH BY PETER MUWARURE O.

SPEECH BY MUWARURE PETER O. ON INDEPENDENCE DAY (NIGERIA @ 57)

Nigeria is a nation as old as some of us. A country so rich in natural resources, talents and language as any other country in the world.
Today as we celebrate her 57th Independence Anniversary; a question keeps running through my mind.  “Have I failed Nigeria or has Nigeria failed me, is my destiny tied to Nigeria or Nigeria’s future is my responsibility?”
So many times, we wake up in the morning complaining about our leaders and unbalanced nation. When we have failed to do our little domestic chores. We failed to clean our rooms, dress our beds, take proper care of a church which is a common centre and many more.
I believe everybody is born with a silver spoon to make a better Nigeria. We just have to discover the shape and purpose of our spoon. If we must shape Nigeria for a better tomorrow, our children and generations to come we must start from wherever we find ourselves.
I want to build a country where there won’t be tribal discrimination, criminology will be at its minimum, a country where the elites won’t use the less privileged for selfish gain. But alone, I can do so little but together we can achieve much more.
Again, just like Paul said “I press towards the mark set before me. The mark is making a better Nigeria.  With this we will grow and can celebrate the achievement/success of a common goal.
Let the Igbos love the Hausas, Fulanis, Yorubas, Ngalas, etc and vice-versa. The beauty of Nigeria lies in the unity in diversity. As I wrap up with tears anticipating for a better Nigeria would love to ask everyone.
“WHAT IF WE LOVE OURSELVES?”
Love is the foundation of growth.

Peter Muwarure.
