 THE ROLE OF INTERETHNIC/INTERTRIBAL RELATIONSHIP IN FOSTERING PEACE AND SECURITY Ladies and Gentlemen, I feel so deeply humbled with the opportunity of delivering a lecture on this noble platform        I'll be talking about "The Role of interethnic/intertribal relationship in fostering PEACE and SECURITY".                        Please note that I'll only be laying the foundation of this discourse, as well as making emphasis on what other great minds have written or said about the topic. Nigeria is a nation in the sub Africa continent that is made up of thirty-six (36) states. It has no fewer than 360 ethnic groups and more than 290 languages.

THE TIV PEOPLE

TIV PEOPLE Tiv or Tivi is an ethno-linguistic group or ethnic nation in West Africa. The Tiv are situated in Benue State, in middle-belt region of Nigeria. The group constitutes appropriately 7% of Nigeria’s population, and number about 3.5million individuals throughout Nigeria. As at 1991, the Tiv language was spoken by about 2.2million people in Nigeria, with a few speakers in Cameroon. Majority of the language speakers are found in Benue State, while few others are found in Plateau, Taraba, Nasarawa and Cross River, as well as FCT Abuja of Nigeria. Most Tiv have a highly developed sense of genealogy, with descent being reckoned patrilineal.

THE CHILDREN THE CULTURE AND THE FUTURE

The children on traditional attires “ Train up a child in the way he/she should go, when he/she is old, he will not depart from it ”. If we can instill the acceptance of each other’s culture into the younger generation, they will grow to teach others to accept each other. This is aimed at building CULTURE ( Co-operation , Understanding , Love, Tolerance, Unity, Respect and Evenness of mind ) amongst people of different Ethnic groups. Food, more than just ending, hunger and facilitating growth and nutrition, can also promote peace and unity in a nation as food
